Introduction
Welcome to this training module dedicated to the specific support of LGBTQ+ individuals. Throughout these chapters, we will explore the issues and particular challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other non-heterosexual and non-cisgender identities, in order to give you the keys to provide them with tailored and benevolent support.
We will address key themes such as coming out, gender identity affirmation, transition, partnership and parenthood, through issues of discrimination at work, mental health, aging and spirituality. We will also pay special attention to intercultural issues and the migratory journeys of LGBTQ+ individuals.
Throughout this module, we will adopt a person-centered approach, based on empathic listening, non-judgment and the valorization of each individual’s resources and skills. We will strive to deconstruct stereotypes and prejudices, to allow each accompanied person to live their sexual orientation and gender identity in a fulfilled and authentic manner.
Whether you are a professional coach, therapist, social worker, or simply engaged in a caring support process, this module will provide you with concrete tools and reflections to offer quality support to the LGBTQ+ individuals you will be called upon to assist.
We hope that this training will allow you to deepen your knowledge, refine your accompaniment stance, and contribute to building a more inclusive society that respects the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities.
Happy exploration!
